Melbourne is an exciting, lifestyle city where everything happens from international sporting events to all the good things in life including food, shopping and wonderful entertainment.

This is a city where people love to socialise all year round, whether it's at restaurants, shows, clubs, bars, live music or comedy. And Melburnians and their friends love to watch films, live performances, visual arts and sport.

Melbourne is known for its trams, gardens, the Yarra River and the cosmopolitan diversity of its inner-suburban precincts. It is a vibrant, multicultural city characterised by fun-loving people.

Darebin

The City of Darebin is a large municipality. In fact, with over 130,000 residents and 55,000 properties, our municipality is home to one of the largest most diverse communities anywhere in Victoria. The physical character of Darebin differs significantly from the inner city suburbs of Alphington, Fairfield, Northcote and Westgarth through the established areas of Thornbury and Preston, out to the relatively new areas of Reservoir and the Bundoora North East Growth Corridor.

Darebin's natural environment is just as extensive, as it is bounded on two sides by the Darebin and Merri Creeks and is home to the Central Creek Grasslands and other significant habitat areas at Bundoora Park and in and around La Trobe University. Edwardes Lake is a major recreational feature in the municipality's north, Darebin Parklands to the south, and significant works have been completed to transform the former Northcote Tip to All Nations Park.

In addition, the City of Darebin owns, controls, manages or maintains an extensive range of physical assets. These include over 600 km of roads, 2,000 km of drains, 300 buildings, 450 hectares of parkland and over 45,000 street trees.
